January 12, 2019 – Campers from Northeastern Mindanao Mission (NEMM) arrived at Mountain View College to SPUC-Wide Pathfinder Camporee headed by Dr. Perlyn P. Panes – the NEMM Education Director. This Pathfinder Camp is participated by Bayugan Adventist Learning Center, Butuan City Mission Academy, New Mt. Olive Adventist Elementary School, Northeastern Mindanao Elementary School, San Francisco Adventist Elementary School, and Surigao Adventist Learning Center.
This camporee is organized by the Education Department of the South Philippine Union Conference (SPUC) which is participated by the Adventist Elementary Schools of Mindanao. “I am expecting about 3,000 campers from all over Mindanao,” says Dr. Bobby Asis, SPUC Education Director.
The Pathfinder Camp 2020 for Elementary has the theme “Be Trained to Train,” a timely aim for elementary students to enhance their skills physically and spiritually. Campers wake up as early as 3 o’clock dawn to prepare themselves for the activities. Daily activities started with morning worship. It is the leaders of the mission and conference who spoke to spirit-filled messages. It is followed by different sessions where campers have to be trained in 12 different sessions. Prayers are also part of the program. While the camping activities are going on, teachers, parents, and pastors spend time in prayer for protection, guidance, and for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Camping ended with the investitures of the campers with their counselors pinning their honors and ranks.
Dr. Perlyn Panes reported that the Northeastern Mindanao Mission group has a total of 139 campers, 42 teachers and 40 parents who participated in the camping.
