The Tubay, Magallanes, and Cabadbaran (TMC) District recently celebrated Philippine National Bible Month alongside the local government of Cabadbaran City. The event, which took place on January 9th, 2023, kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony at the City Ground.
Following the ceremony, a convocation program was held at the Social Hall within the City Hall Complex, where Pastor Deonnel Peren, District Leader of Salug District, delivered an uplifting message emphasizing the Bible’s impact on spiritual health for both individuals and governing authorities. The local Adventist student organization, MASAMICUS (Movement of Adventist Student – Adventist Ministry to Colleges and Universities Students) from Caraga State University – Cabadbaran Campus (CSUCC), performed a musical hymn during the program. Dr. Lloyd Baylon and Pastor James Lim, District Leader of TMC District, were also in attendance.
The Philippine National Bible Month was established by Presidential Proclamation No. 124, signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in 2017. The Proclamation recognized the Bible’s significance in world history. Its teachings have influenced social reformers and politicians worldwide, forming countries and promoting social stability, kindness, and mutual understanding among all races.
Philippine National Bible Month commemoration aims to raise Filipinos’ awareness of the importance of reading and studying scripture. It serves as a tool for strengthening the moral character of citizens and promoting loyalty and patriotism to established governing entities. The event also emphasizes that nothing can be overcome with God at the center of everything. The celebration of National Bible Month can have a significant impact not only on the community but on the world as a whole. (Jun Jeson Ruaza, Communication Department, NEMM)
