Butuan City, Agusan del Sur – February 6, 2024: The rivers of Agusan del Sur overflowed their banks, inundating Butuan City following severe flooding triggered by a shear line and a low-pressure trough, leaving thousands of residents displaced.
Responding to the urgent need for assistance, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) swiftly mobilized relief efforts in partnership with the Northeastern Mindanao Mission. On February 16, 2024, they provided essential aid to 450 families in the severely affected areas of Barangay Baan Riverside and Barangay Buhangin. This critical support, comprising cash assistance, was made possible through donors’ generous contributions and volunteers’ dedicated efforts.
The relief operation was spearheaded by the committed volunteers of ADRA and Adventist Community Services (ACS) led by Shaina Enomar and through their efficient coordination and unwavering dedication, aid was efficiently distributed to those in need, ensuring timely relief.
Expressing gratitude for the invaluable partnership, ADRA and ACS highlighted the significance of collaboration in delivering prompt and reliable aid during crises. This collaboration serves as a beacon of hope, providing essential resources to fulfill the mission of serving humanity.
