Davao City, Philippines — Howard Faigao, former General Conference Publishing Director (retired), was the keynote speaker at the opening worship of the Publishing Ministries Leaders Summit, held from August 26-28, 2024 at the Davao Mission Conference Hall, Davao City. The “Lest Ye Forget That Jesus is Coming Soon” summit brought together publishing ministry leaders for spiritual reflection, leadership development, and strategic planning.
Pastor Faigao shared a compelling message anchored in Ecclesiastes, emphasizing that while leaders and people may come and go, the mission of the Publishing Ministries remains steadfast. He remarked, “Leaders come and go, but the work of God in the publishing ministries will go on.”
Faigao highlighted three key points:
1. All of us are subject to time.
2. All of us are subject to chance.
3. All of us are subject to die.
In these realities, he urged attendees to live a life that makes sense—one rooted in purpose. According to Faigao, life on earth gains true meaning when:
1. We know our Creator and Redeemer.
2. We surrender and use our spiritual gifts to serve the Master.
3. We accept that our life on earth is a temporary episode within God’s eternal plan.
“God has given you a life with a purpose,” Faigao reminded the leaders. As the summit continues, participants are expected to explore strategies to advance the work of publishing and renew their commitment to spreading the message of Christ’s soon return.
